What you eat matters and eating healthy food is important.. Few people know the basics when it comes to making healthy choices regarding food. I doubt that you will eat the foods that you buy unless they actually taste good.  To have long term lifestyle changes regarding the food you eat not only needs to provide the right nutrients but eating healthy food should also taste good.  Below I’ve listed three tips to help you eat better.

Selecting Fruit and Vegetables

When you think of fruits and vegetables what usually comes to mind?  Apple, oranges, pairs, greens, corn, etc.  Most people never really venture outside of their comfort zone where fruits and vegetables are concerned.  Try adding sliced bell peppers, kale, Swiss chard, papayas, and kiwi.  Also, in order to get the most intense flavors from your fruits and veggies eat only whats in season at the time.

Buy Convenience Foods Whenever Possible

Eating healthy food when it comes to fruits and vegetables doesn’t have to be hard.  Why spend your time washing cutting fruits and vegetables when you don’t have to.  Yes, you will have to pay more for the convenience of pre-cut fruits and veggies but you can often buy just what you need.  How often have you bought fruits and vegetables and they spoiled because you either didn’t feel like washing and cutting them or because they were ruined before you had a chance to consume it all.

Whole Grains Is The Way To Go

Whole grain cereals actually taste really good.  If you’re not sure if you’d like the taste then start off by eating some oatmeal. Regular oats take five to ten minutes to prepare and if you’re in a real hurry there’s an instant variety that can be prepared in the microwave.  Never buy the instant flavored oatmeal.  Instead buy the plain oatmeal and use a natural sweeter such as honey, maple syrup or raw brown sugar.  Most of the commercially prepared box cereals contain preservatives and lots of sugar even the whole grain variety and definitely will not fall under the eating healthy food category.
